Lee's 2nd Birthday Recap

The party guests began arriving Friday afternoon- first Mimi and Boo, then later that night, Aunt Katie!

Friday was low key, the kids had their afternoon naps, then when they woke up they ran down the hallway with joy to see their visitors! Of course Mimi got out their little gifts that she always brings (this time it was lots of cute shoes!). We all went on a walk to the hidden park in Chapel Valley (the one surrounded by houses). One of the neighbors had baby ducks and let us pet them.

That night Dillon and I had a date night (dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings followed by birthday shopping!) Mimi and Boo took the kids to Qdoba and then to Books a Million. When we got home that night, the house was clean and Katie had arrived safely from Denver!

Saturday morning Aunt Katie was up first with Reese and Lee, and he was delighted with his new giant Monkey that he named "Mud." After breakfast, and with a sunny and warm forecast, we opted for a hike up to Stratosbowl.

After the hike we quickly toured Reptile Gardens but the weariness was setting in and lunch beckoned us to head to Stonewalls for carbs! Then home for naptime!

Post naptime was spent swinging in the new platform swing from Mimi and Boo, then a walk up to Chapel in the Hills to see all the highschoolers in their prom dresses and suits (a Rapid City tradition).

We grilled dinner at home (Italian Chicken, tomatoe bruschetta, and green beans).

Sunday morning arrived and we all (except for Dillon since he had to leave the house early for church) piled in Lee's room and sang 'Happy Birthday' as he grinned and tried to climb out of his crib. We sent Katie back to Denver, got ready and went to church. Afterwards, we joined the Church Childrens Event at Rapid City gymnastics from 11:30-1, I brought a cake to celebrate!

Then home for naps! Post naps, Lee groggily opened his presents (slightly stressful since Reese took over the unwrapping and was frustrated that Lee wasnt interested).

Soon it was time for dinner (Que Pasa) followed by a drive around town then back home to play until betime. All in all- a fabulous weekend to celebrate the boy we love with the people we love!

Love seeing your adventures! What a great way for the kids to have a scrap book of their childhood. I am also happy to see the hiking backpack is getting some miles!
