Quick Getaway

We enjoyed a perfect weekend! Friday after work Dillon picked me up and we headed north, to Broken Bow Oklahoma which we discovered is only 3 hrs from Frisco. We arrived to our cute bed and breakfast, Reubens Rest and met the owners, then went on to dinner at Abendigo's in town...Dillon got steak and I got a pasta dish. We enjoyed good conversation and food, then drove out to see the lake while the sun was setting.

Saturday we slept in a bit, then enjoyed a 3 course breakfast (smoothie, eggs sausage and bisquit, and a cherry danish) before heading out to ride the river. We were amazed at how beautiful the river was- we didnt take our camera on the canoe but I found some pictures online. We started out a little nervous (just me) but after Dillon showed me a few basic maneuvers (side stroke, forward and back paddle) we were good to go. We had talked to some guys earlier who had kayaked the river and flipped several times so we were just anticipating a dump in the freezing water but we actually survived the 2 1/2 hr float without tipping! We did crash into several rocks, and I lost my orr twice (Dillon rescued it both times!) but we had a GREAT time, and were sad when it was over.

On our way back to Dallas, Dillons AC went out so we were a little miserable in the car ride. Once in the solace of our cool home, we cleaned up and headed to the Geyers for delicious dinner, fine company and a few rounds of Hand and Foot (a new card game we learned).

This morning we had a good showing to Sunday school, and then ate at Blue Goose with our friends the Thiems. They suprised us and treated us as a thankyou since Dillon has taught Sunday school all year.

We weren't with either of our dads today (Fathers Day) but we certainly are mindful of how blessed we are because of them~

June

Overnight Dallas has become a summer sauna- the humidity and bright sun sure make it good pool weather! I'm in my second week of working summer school (just half a day)- only 2 weeks left now.

So last week we babysat our nieces and nephew (Saturday through Thursday) while Justin and Tasha went to Playa, and we honestly had a great time. Yes we were VERY tired but it was also really fun and rewarding spending 12+ hrs a day playing and caring for a 5, 3 and almost 1 year old. The older two are at ages that allow them more independence and the youngest was just so adorable that we didnt mind all the poopy diapers and messes. 3 of the days Dillon played Mr Mom since I had to work summer school- I think he did a good job and I'm glad he is getting lots of practice!

On Friday my sisters came in town for a short trip. That night we ate at Fireside Pies in Legacy, walked around the lake and got ice cream then came home to watch a bit of the opening ceremony of the World Cup.

Saturday morning Dillon and I got up early to work at The Stewpot downtown with our small group- it was our first "mission" event and we all enjoyed getting to serve and be reminded of all that we have. Mollie also had to get up early to take the ACT in Frisco- after which we grabbed lunch then spent the afternoon at Hawaiin Falls. We started in the wave pool and couldnt stop laughing as we all clung to our one float for dear life. Then we floated in the lazy river for at least 1 hr- a brother and sister asked if we wanted to start a chain , so we linked inner-tubes with them and at one point had about 15 people "chained" together going through the river.

We went to church together on Sunday then the girls went home. I know I'll see them soon but it's still always sad to say goodbye. Afterwards Dillon and I spent the day catching up on laundry from the past week, a couple of grocery store runs and finished the night with this perfect summer dish while watching Glee. I would like to comment that while I love the musical side of the show- the story lines and relationships are getting a little offensive which makes me sad.

Summer is underway- future trips, good books, and time off all make for happy dispositions~
