23 Months

That it keeps getting better is one of the most surprising parts of motherhood. I have loved each phase of Reese's little life, and with each one I have found myself wishing to freeze time. So what is my little toddler up to these days?

She wakes up around 7, and we know she is up because of the sounds coming from her room. She never opens her door even though we leave it cracked, so one of us will go get her and bring her back to our room/bed for a {very short} bit. She asks right away for 'Yogi' or 'Show' and says 'Come On!' or  'Robey on!'

She eats all her breakfast right up- still yogurt and an egg, and then she shares blueberries with me and has a little bit of Dads cereal too.

She tells Dad 'Love Uuu' when he leaves for work, unpromted and it melts his heart each time. And mine.

She shows manners so well that it surprises me. Anytime I bring her a meal/snack she immediately says 'Thank you', and when strangers compliment her (often about her pink sparkle coat since she lives in that thing) she always replies 'Thank you' with a smile without me even telling her to.

She has already begun with the potty humor. The other day we were driving through town and she started adding 'Poo-y' to the beginning of peoples names and then dying laughing- 'Poo-y Polly' 'Poo-y Penny' (our dogs) 'Poo-y Daddy'...etc...

She is super independent when it comes to tasks. She wants to put her shoes on herself, climb up things herself, blow bubbles unassisted and yells no when we ask if she would like help.

She loves her naps! 130-430 every day. Hope this doesnt change for a while!

She recently has started requesting to be 'tickled'. She will lie down on her side and curl in a ball so we will tickle her back- sweetest thing ever!

She loves her shows. 'Frozen' is her current favorite, but she also loves 'Mickey Mouse Clubhouse' and 'Sophia the First.' She can sing along to several of the them songs.

Our days are filled with fun: Playdates at Burger King, The Outdoor Learning Center, the mall; Tuesdays gymnastics where she loves to sing and dance to ring around the rosy, Wednesday she does so well being dropped off at BSF. She loves to scream 'Dinosaur Mountain' when we are driving through town and she sees the big dinosaur statue. She knows the names of her favorite parks ('Sioux Park! Lake Park!) when we drive past them. She loves to ride in the shopping cart car at Safeway which makes shopping much easier.

We recently had a rare warm day last Saturday and decided to take full advantage of it, knowing that with a new baby coming this might be our last day just the three of us to be outdoors (me at 38 weeks). We headed out to Reptile Gardens where we saw 'Stinky turtles' and played at the playground. We had a quick lunch at Sonic, ran to the grocery store and she took a little catnap in the car. We decided to forego naptime and instead swung by Walmart to buy a kite. Reese woke up and we told her we were going to Sioux Park to fly a kite and she was thrilled. We flew the kite for a while, went on a long walk through the park, played at the playground and flew the kite again. Came home and dad grilled steak. It was the perfect Spring day and Im so glad we made some memories with our sweet firstborn.
