We had a fabulous weekend! For Dillon's birthday dinner we ventured to Fogo de Chao, Brazilian steakhouse. The food and company were great. Dillon tried every piece of meat on the menu except for the steak ribs. Its a little pricey, you pay a flat fee and get all you can eat meat and salad bar so its actually a good deal. (for Dillons birthday I got him tickets to see George Lopez in May-he was excited)
And here are the herbs I promised I would show. We got Basil, Cilantro and Thyme. I need to google more about this- I dont know how often to water them or when I can start using them to cook with. Here is Penny lickin her chops just thinkin about it!

LOVE Fogo de Cao (sp?). When my brother is in town we typically travel to Austin for a lunch-time meal there (it's cheaper). I enjoy the atmosphere even though I don't eat my weight for the cost! So glad ya'll had a good weekend! You're dog is precious and I'm excited to hear about your herbs - it is inspiring me to consider doing this in the future!
Your dog is already licking her lips at the deliciousness of the herbs. You can see it in the picture... she can't wait to taste the sweet deliciousness of nature's candy.

Thank you so much for the apartment info! I don't know that area very well at ALL! Right now I think we are looking at the Carrollton area...we are going to go hunting again this weekend so we may drive around a check it out. I don't know anyone up that way so we may have to get together and hang out sometime :) I just moved here to TX from AR about a year and a half ago and we are already moving AGAIN! ahhh!!! I am so glad to be out of the in-laws though! I need someone to shop with in Dallas..ha..ha..

B. "Nature's candy" - is there any other way to describe the amazing complimentary characteristics that herbs serve to our phenomenal taste abilities? I mean, what would potato be without chives? What would tomato soup be without lintels? What would rosemary chicken be without the rosemary?
Nature's candy. It fits their role perfectly.
Ryan I stand corrected regarding your word choices, but must point out that my herbs cannot qualify as natures candy until they have been tasted- I fear they will be more like nature's nastiness. I am trying to be a good gardener but its not coming naturally!
I just bought my 3rd oregano plant. I am determined though. (think it was my overwatering and the poor things need full sun)Hope you are having better luck with your new herbs. wsmm
Dallas? Honey, those herbs will grow SOOO easily there...we lived in Austin for 14 years and SugarLand for 3 and stuff grew so easily there...soak the pots in a bucket of water at least once a week and they will grow like crazy!
I used to have a rosemary and lemon verbena by the front door...I'd smack them when I went in and out the door and the air was scented...grew lavender in a whiskey barrel on the north side of the house...I'd open the door and the breeze would come through the house from the wax ligustrum at the neighbors, pick up the smell of the lavender...and ooohhh! My house smelled so good.
